Join dance artist and diversity advocate Stuart Waters for this presentation exploring how to stay safe and healthy in mind and body when developing a career in the dance industry. Stuart will discuss his own story and mental health journey, sharing tips he’s developed for maintaining his practice.
Stuart Waters is a dynamic and expressive dance theatre artist specialising in performance, choreography, collaborations and teaching. Stuart has performed nationally and internationally for companies such as Motionhouse Dance Theatre, Barebones, Wired Aerial Theatre, Protein Dance and Panta Rei Danseteatre, Norway. For the last three years Stuart has been building his first full length piece of work, Rockbottom, which toured nationally throughout 2019, opening up a conversation with audiences and in the dance sector around mental and emotional health. More recently Stuart has developed his practice to reflect his neurodiversity and mental health access needs, advocating for diversity and emotional safety in the dance sector through safe practice awareness, performance, training and public speaking.
